Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a complementary medical practice that entails stimulating certain points on the body, most often with a needle penetrating the skin, to alleviate pain or to help treat various health conditions. Developed millions of years ago in China, numerous studies conducted have shown great results while using acupuncture.

Here at 417 Health & Wellness, we use acupuncture to help many conditions which include:

  • Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
  • Dizziness, vertigo, or headaches
  • Strokes symptoms
  • Muscular pain, strain, and arthritis
  • Dental pain
  • Anxiety

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is incorporated as a way to relieve pain, promote relaxation, enhance blood flow, and ease inflammation. Cups are placed on the affected areas with suction to increase blood flow and move toxins. A common misconception about cupping is the therapy leaves you bruised after. The marks left by the cups are not bruising, but toxins and stagnant blood removed from the tissue. Increasing your water intake after a session should help decrease the marks and move the toxins faster. To find out more about how cupping may benefit you, contact 417Health & Wellness today.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a type of physical therapy often used to treat myofascial or muscular pain syndrome. Myofascial pain syndrome is a chronic pain disorder caused by sensitivity and tightness in your myofascial tissues. These tissues surround and support the muscles throughout your body. The pain usually originates from specific points within your myofascial tissues called “trigger points.”

Myofascial release focuses on reducing pain by easing the tension and tightness in the trigger points. It’s not always easy to understand what trigger point is responsible for the pain. Localizing pain to a specific trigger point is very difficult. For that reason, myofascial release is often used over a broad area of muscle and tissue rather than at single points.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field

What is Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy?

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy devices emit electromagnetic waves at different frequencies to stimulate and encourage your body’s natural recovery process. NASA began using PEMF to help mitigate bone loss and muscle atrophy in astronauts. Since its incept, it has traditionally been used by orthopedic surgeons to help fractures and wounds heal and has gained popularity in recent years among scientists and clinicians as a way to treat acute and chronic pain with non-invasive procedures.

How does it work?

Your entire body is composed of cells. The membranes, or barriers, of healthy cells, have positive and negative magnetic charges. These charges are required to exchange nutrients and waste products into and out of your cells. As your cells deteriorate with age or damage (like from injury or illness) they begin to lose their charge, and the ability to properly exchange nutrients. Symptoms like inflammation, fatigue, and pain are caused by damaged cells with low charges. The energy creates a small, brief electromagnetic field that is then safely induced into the user, and transmitted into unhealthy cells to regulate their charge.

What does it do for me?

PEMF therapy can be used to treat many aches, pains, and conditions including back pain, shoulder pain, arthritis, and other causes of pain. We use PEMF to increase energy, accelerate the healing process, and decrease inflammation. This cutting-edge technology is safe, comfortable, and effective and has only recently been made available to the general public. There are thousands of published scientific research articles establishing the benefits of PEMF. We see the best results in sports injuries and cases of chronic aches/pains/weakness/soreness. Many patients around the country attest to using PEMF as a supplement to aid with a conditioning regimen, as it relieves soreness, and joint aches, and increases recovery time.

FDA has approved PEMF for two main uses: nonhealing wounds and nonhealing bone fractures. Through the research, PEMF has been shown to increase circulation and improve healing.
